This year HEA hosted its first high school graduation ceremony. It
was held June 11th at Nettles Auditorium on the USC Sumter campus.
Of the 89 senior members of HEA 20 participated in the ceremony.
The class Salutatorian, Richard Sullivan, opened the ceremony with a
prayer. The class Valedictorian, Susanna Nethery, gave a wonderful
exhortation to her classmates. Rev. Ron Richardson, a homeschool
father of six, gave the commencement address.
The traditional ceremony also included the students walking across
the stage as Rachel Ward read comments from the parents about their
students/children. The parents/teachers stood while their
student/child walked across the stage to receive their diploma. The
graduated students then marched out of the auditorium to the music
of The Hallelujah Chorus.
